I started writing when I was a little child, my first piano composition being entitled, "The Swan." It was about 8 bars long, and I wrote it out on a little notepad. From there I moved on to arrange over 15 a cappella songs for POBJFKHS, including "Something," by the Beatles, "Drops of Jupiter," by Train, and "Hump de Bump," by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I love doing vocal arrangements, please message me if you are looking for something, I am always happy to arrange on commission!
I attended UNC Chapel Hill where I studied Vocal Performance and Composition, including Jazz Piano lessons, Classical and Jazz Music Theory, and a Senior Thesis Project in Composition. For my Senior Thesis Project, I wrote a one-act Musical, "Spellbound!" which won the Sam Selden Playwriting Award. During my college years, I also wrote music for the New York Summer Music Festival' s Original Music Theatre Workshop, and for the UNC-CH Pauper Players .
I am now living in New York City, trying to make it as an actor and singer/songwriter. If you are interested in my story, check out my website: www.benboecker.com . There's a lot more information there about my life and my music.
